Domestic Sources for the Materials We Need

Rare earth minerals are a key part of our national defense and infrastructure, contained in military guidance and missile systems, aircraft engines, and nearly every technological device. That’s why mining and processing rare earth material in the United States is of critical value.

Ramaco Resources is in the exploration phase of a critical minerals and rare earth element project at its Brook Mine in Wyoming, and recently entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding with REalloys Inc. with plans for REalloys to perform separation of Ramaco’s mined materials into various rare earth oxides. This cooperation helps bring the rare earth supply chain into the U.S., securing our economic and infrastructure needs.

“Ramaco is proud to pursue a future partnership with REalloys to supply domestically sourced mixed rare earth carbonates and scandium oxide that could underpin a resilient, ex China permanent magnet supply chain,” Ramaco Resources CEO said Randall Atkins said in a news release. “We are progressing to position the Brook Mine to potentially deliver both reliable MREC feedstock tailored to REalloys’ SRC separation facilities as well as our own scandium oxide for REalloys’ metallization process.”
