Considering the time and dedication that goes into the development of a mine, it is only natural to celebrate its official opening. Nevada Gold Mines, a joint venture between operator Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%), had the opportunity the celebrate the opening of the Goldrush Mine in Nevada, which will provide benefits to the state and to the local community through taxes, employment and community support in the local area. The Goldrush Project is a 24-year underground mine, expected to provide 500 jobs during construction and 570 people once operational.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mark Bristow, Barrick President and CEO, thanked those in support of the project. “We recognize that we have been entrusted with a tremendous economic and environmental responsibility and we look forward to sharing the benefits of this new mine with Nevada and its people.”
