Steel to Build By

Steel is the basis of much of our infrastructure, and steel is built on metallurgical coal. Around 770 kilograms of coal is used to make one ton of steel, and considering the push made this year for domestic steel, the U.S. will also need coal to meet infrastructure demands.

The U.S. has ample met coal to provide. Arch Resources is a leading supplier of premium High-Vol A metallurgical coal globally, and its flagship Leer mine consistently ranks among the lowest cost U.S. metallurgical mines. The Leer mine and its new companion operation – Leer South – are targeting an aggregate production level of nearly 8 million tons per year, at full run rate. Domestic coal supports domestic steel for infrastructure we can rely on.
