Copper to Power Us

When we think of energy, we often think of the fuels that produce the energy. But getting the energy from the source to our homes and businesses is just as important, and for that, we need copper. Its high conductivity and ductility make copper ideal for wiring, and copper is also a necessary component of wind and solar energy generation. About 5 tonnes of copper is needed per megawatt in solar generation, and more than 4 tonnes is needed for wind farms, with up to 9 tonnes needed for offshore wind generation.

Copper’s demand is rising, so we will need more copper mines to meet demand. New World Resources Limited is exploring the redevelopment of the Antler Copper Deposit in Arizona. Currently there are mining studies in process and resource exploration drilling continues. Exploration has been promising, which means the future is looking brighter for our copper and energy needs.
