Zero Emissions Vehicles on Site

Zero-emission mining is the future of mining, and Rio Tinto and Komatsu are at the front-end of mining innovation. Komatsu has been developing zero-emission haul trucks, and Rio Tinto will conduct a pre-production trial of the new equipment on site.

“We know that addressing climate change effectively requires businesses, governments and society to work together. Our collaboration with Komatsu recognizes the role zero-emission haul trucks will play in meeting the emission reduction goals of not only Rio Tinto, but the entire mining industry,” said Alf Barrios, Rio Tinto’s Chief Commercial Officer. By utilizing zero-emission haul trucks, like the ones Komatsu is developing, Rio Tinto can reduce its environmental impact.
