- Resolution Copper: Investing in Our Future
March 24, 2017
Copper is essential to the way we live. It brings clean water, efficient energy transmission and it is a known antimicrobial that can help eliminate the spread of harmful viruses and bacteria. It is a crucial mineral in energy-efficient transportation, infrastructure and industry. It is one of the most economically superior and efficient conductors of heat and electricity on the planet — something that’s important in a carbon constrained world. Copper is also one of the few materials that can be 100 percent recycled with no change in its performance.
Copper is also about people. Roughly a billion people in developing parts of the world are just now entering the market for cars, washing machines, refrigerators and computers that they see in the developed world. Every day, the world is home to nearly 200,000 more people who are consuming more products, enjoying more technology and expecting more physical and social mobility. By 2050, our children will share this planet with 9 billion people. That means the world will be adding the equivalent of a city of 1 million people, say the size of Rochester, N.Y., every week for the next 30 years. Every one of those cities, every one of those people will need copper to survive and thrive.
Located near Superior, Ariz., Resolution Copper is a proposed mine intended to develop one of the world’s largest untapped deposits of copper. Currently in the federal permitting process, once Resolution Copper is in full production, it will supply roughly 25 percent of United States copper demand.
Resolution Copper stands ready to help meet the increased demand for copper, combining today’s advanced technologies with tomorrow’s innovations in order to advance human progress and improve living standards for people everywhere.
