National Mining Association (NMA) President and CEO Hal Quinn issued the following statement today in support of today’s House resolution against a future carbon tax (H. CON. RES. 89):
“The vote today in the House of Representatives against carbon taxes sends a strong signal about our nation’s future economic policy. A carbon tax, like many recent regulatory policies, is designed to make abundant energy more expensive and less accessible. It would make American industries less competitive and have an outsized impact on the middle class and low income families. The members who voted for the resolution should be commended for recognizing the damaging implications of this tax, and for standing up for a growing economy and job creation, all of which depend on affordable and reliable energy.”
