In advance of National Miners Day on Dec. 6, National Mining Association (NMA) President and CEO Hal Quinn released the following statement:
“The National Mining Association is proud to recognize America’s miners and the indispensable contributions they make to our nation’s enviable standard of living. Every American benefits from the energy, metals and minerals that miners provide every day. These men and women are at the front end of the long supply chain that provides products essential for our quality of life.
“More than ever, their contributions are present in the entire spectrum of our economy, from energy to advanced technologies and manufacturing. That’s why our miners take great pride in what they do, and rightfully so.
“At a time when government policies are costing tens of thousands of miners their livelihoods and the ability to support their families, recognizing their contributions to our economy and our well-being is particularly important.
“On behalf of all the members of the National Mining Association, I would like to express our gratitude to America’s miners and their families for all that they do in the service of their country and their fellow miners.”
