Washington, D.C. – The National Mining Association (NMA) today welcomed Ashley Burke as the mining organization’s senior vice president for communications. Burke will assume responsibilities for NMA’s communications with internal and external audiences, overseeing publications, media relations, social media and paid advertising.
“We are very pleased to have Ashley’s two dozen years of communications experience placed in the service of our industry,” said NMA President and CEO Hal Quinn. “Her deep expertise, demonstrated in a variety of corporate and public relations positions both here and abroad, will us convey the values of this country’s unrivalled endowment of minerals and coal.”
Burke was previously Global Director of Communications for Dentons, helping the law firm manage external communications during numerous mergers worldwide that last year enabled Dentons to become the world’s largest law firm. Prior to her service there Burke served as senior vice president, communications for DynCorp International, a multi-billion-dollar government contractor. Her responsibilities included managing communications services and strategies in 38 countries, serving as the global company’s chief spokesperson, and developing corporate-wide reputation and re-branding campaigns.
Earlier in her career, Burke honed her communications skills as executive vice president of Prism Public Affairs where she specialized in corporate and crisis communications for a wide variety of clients including governments, coalitions and companies.
NMA is the U.S. mining industry’s national trade group based in Washington, D.C., representing mining equipment manufacturers and vendors, and domestic coal and mineral mining companies.
