LinkedIn Blog: Rebuilding America with American Products

Earlier this month, the president signed an executive order on “Establishing Discipline and Accountability in the Environmental Review and Permitting Process for Infrastructure” to work towards improving America’s infrastructure.

A revitalized infrastructure supports a stronger economy and a more advanced society. America has long been considered a global leader in innovation and manufacturing; there’s no reason the U.S. can’t be a leader of infrastructure too.

Unfortunately, the country’s infrastructure was given a D+ by the American Society of Civil Engineers for the second year in a row. Did you know that the U.S. has not been rated above a D since 1998? For nearly 20 years our infrastructure has been “poor”, putting American lives and our society at risk.

To have our infrastructure – a vital part of our economy, security and safety – receive such a low assessment is alarming. Our August polling results, conducted by Morning Consult, found that 86 percent of voters are also concerned about the state of our infrastructure.

In addition, the results show that 65 percent of voters favor reforming the mine permitting process in order to increase availability of domestic minerals to support rebuilding projects. This is a five percent increase from our June polling results.

Let’s continue working to fix what is broken and rebuild America. Click here to see Minerals Make Life’s infographic highlighting why minerals are important to infrastructure.
