NMA Dismisses EPA’s Federal Plan for Power Plants

National Mining Association (NMA) President and CEO Hal Quinn issued the following statement today before the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) scheduled public hearing in Washington, D.C. on the federal plan for reducing carbon emissions from power plants:

“EPA’s federal plan is a cap-and-trade scheme rejected by members of Congress from both parties. It again shows that the Clean Power Plan offers governors no reasonable choices for meeting EPA’s demands. This is a plan purposefully designed to usurp state jurisdiction and transform the nation’s power grid by a federal agency that lacks the competence and authority to do so.”
